FEMA Chassis Trailers
Delivering 5 Chassis Trailers To The USVI Within 10 Business Days
FEMA Chassis Trailers
We won an order from FEMA to deliver 5 Chassis Trailers to the U.S. Virgin Islands in just 10 business days. We’re proud to say that these trailers were delivered one day early and on budget. This order was in excess of $100,000.00 and began with the contracting officers internally debating if they should purchase new or used trailers. It was clear that they were leaning towards used trailers, so we put 5 units on hold and were prepared to deliver them from Florida to the USVI. After much deliberation, the contracting officers decided that they were going to need new trailers instead. By this time, circumstances had changed and we couldn’t find one new trailer in the Southeastern United States. We were told by every manufacturer that the shortage was because all of their trailers had been sold to help with recovery efforts in response to Hurricane Irma. When these trailers are new, they normally take about 30 days to go from procurement to delivery outside of the mainland U.S. because they are rarely held in stock. Because of our relationships, we were able to lean on our strategic partners and get 5 of the exact trailers which fit FEMA’s criteria. From that point, we had one of our trusted drivers take the trailers on an overnight trip from Pennsylvania to West Palm Beach within 3 days of signing the order. If the shipping company wasn’t overbooked, we would have had the trailers delivered to the USVI within 6 total days. Still, we managed to get the product on the island before the agreed-upon 10 business days and now these trailers are helping the citizens of the USVI rebuild their lives.
FEMA'S PROBLEM
The trailers that FEMA needed were in short supply because of their popularity and had been getting purchased at an alarming rate by other islands which were also impacted by Hurricane Irma. These chassis trailers were integral to disaster relief because they were the most efficient way to get water to the residents of this United States territory.

THE JOSEPHS GROUP SOLUTION
We took this project on because we knew that we could help, so we submitted a proposal and they accepted it. When FEMA reached out to us it was evident that time was of the essence. We knew that we would have to lean on all of our connections to get the residents of the USVI the help that they needed to rebuild their lives.
